While some of Chicago’s residents experienced turmoil this weekend, others got to enjoy the sounds of Kendrick Lamar’s Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City, live. K.Dot was the headlining act of the 2014 Pitchfork Music Festival and served the Union Park crowd an ear-full of fun along with an eye-full of South Central L.A. images on a jumbo screen. Raekwon fans probably wanted a Wu-Tang reunion when they saw him headlining for this years Brooklyn music festival. That was far from what they got. Keeping an ear for whats current Raekwon brought out Brooklyn’s hot new freshman rappers. Troy Ave, Papoose and Bobby Shurmurda were his guest. Troy Ave delivered with his hit single “Your Style.” The crowd wasn’t too hyped when “Hot N*gga” came on but that could be because it wasn’t enough authentic “hip-hop” for the same crowd that came to see Jay Electronica. Or it could just be because they weren’t expecting Shurmurda. Either way Bobby Shurmurda is here to stay for the summer. He is also rumored to have caught up with Jay-Z backstage.

A sexy Trini-born Nicki Minaj paid her propers late Friday evening, with a sizzling performance of a few of her hit songs during her 20 minute set at the Philly 4th Of July Jam in celebration of America’s Birthday. Other acts for the festive occassion includeded Aloe Blacc, Jennifer Hudson, and Philly’s own The Roots. The beauty stunned the crowd in leather joggers paired with festive beaded top, showing off more than eyefull of her ample cleavage as she hit the stage to perform crowd favorites.
