(Photos + Video) Park Dedicated To MCA Defaced With Swastikas, So Ad-Rock Leads Anti-Hate Rally

Over the weekend, the Brooklyn park that is dedicated to the late Adam Yauch was defaced with [incorrectly drawn] swastikas and “Go Trump!” This immediately prompted a response from the Beastie Boys, and Ad-Rock put together an anti-hate rally on location at Adam Yauch Memorial Park that attracted hundreds of supporters. “You can’t and you won’t and you don’t stop!” Ad-Rock chanted.


Playground In BK To Be Renamed After Adam Yauch

This Saturday, May 4th, will be one year since the death of Beastie Boys’ Adam Yauch. To honor his memory, report that the Palmetto Playground in Adam’s childhood neighborhood of Brooklyn Heights will officially be renamed the Adam Yauch Playground. A naming ceremony will be held this Friday, May 3rd. RIP, Adam!


The New York Times Magazine Pays Tribute To Adam “MCA” Yauch

As the year comes to a close, The New York Times Magazine will be paying tribute to the entertainers we lost this year including Whitney Houston,  Don Cornelius, and more. Perhaps one of the most shocking deaths of this year came on May 4, 2012 when Adam “MCA” Yauch from the legendary group, the Beastie Boys, lost his long battle with carotid-gland cancer. As a tribute to MCA and his life, the New York Times Magazine put Adam on the cover of their tribute issue. Inside of the issue itself, Alex Pappademas of Grantland writes about MCA’s impact on the Beastie Boys, hip hop, and pop. Read some of Pappademas’ words below. RIP, MCA! Julie A.

Adam Yauch Honored By NY Senate; Unofficial “MCA Day NYC” Taking Place Tomorrow

The New York senate honored Adam “MCA” Yauch by passing a resolution on Tuesday praising MCA’s work as not only a rapper but an activist as well. Tomorrow (May 19th) at 11a.m. there will be an unofficial “MCA Day NYC” in Union Square Park to celebrate the life of the Beastie Boy. Read more below. Julie1205
