Wu-Tang affiliate Shyheim Franklin was left with no choice but to plead guilty to manslaughter stemming from a fatal hit-and-run on New Year’s Day. He is charged with fleeing the scene when he hit 29-year-old bakery worker Avila Olea in New Brighton, Staten Island. According to SI Live “Franklin had angered the victim’s family after the crash when he took to YouTube in a bid to raise cash to fight the charges against him.” The rapper has also been charged with weapon possession charges from an April 2013 arrest. Franklin now faces up to 7 years for gun possession, and 4 to 14 years for manslaughter, and will be sentenced on August 21.
