Another black man was shot and killed by police Saturday morning in Houston, TX. Police said that Alva Baziel was waving around a gun and pointed it at them when they opened fire. But surveillance footage from a nearby gas station shows otherwise. The video, which began to circulate Saturday night on Twitter, shows Braziel walk out toward an intersection. When the squad car arrives, he appears to put his hands in the air and turn around, standing still for a few seconds before police shoot him.

Nearly 200 People Arrested Over Night While Protesting Police Brutality

Protests continue across the U.S. and momentum is not slipping anytime soon. Mirroring the civil rights movement, thousands have gathered over the weekend to take a stance against police brutality. In the wake of the thousands which gathered across the United States to take a stance nearly 200 protesters were arrested overnight. At least 198 people were arrested between New York, Chicago, St. Paul Minnesota, and Baton Rouge.

It is extremely difficult to watch police officers who took an oath to protect and serve the community kill black men and then have it plastered all over the internet, TV and social media. It is also extremely difficult to hear the opinions of those who search for reasons to justify the police killings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile. Although our country is experiencing a lot of racial tension and a lot racially motivated acts of violence there is a video that has gone viral of two babies holding on to one another and wont let go. One of the children in the video is black and the other is white and it should remind us that race, religion etc should not matter and that people are not born bigots.

In the midst of all the tragic events that have taken place this week a man by the name of Kellon Nixon brought his 5-year-old son downtown Dallas Thursday night because they “wanted to be a part of something,” he told MSNBC. “We wanted to have our voices to support Philando Castile and Alton Sterling.”
