(Video) Auto Talk: Porsche 911 Turbo, 911 GT3 caught with minimal cam

Practicing their final notes before they go on song for paying customers, three 991-series Porsche 911 GT3 prototypes were caught at a filling station in Catalunya, Spain almost completely uncovered. According to the photographer (working with an iPhone), two of them (foreground in the photo above) were wearing a host of extras from the options list, while the third appears to be a prototype set up halfway between a traditional 911 and a GT3: it has five-bolt GT3-style wheels and central exhaust, but standard 911 front and rear bumpers and rear wing. Auto Talk: More Jaguar F-Type images leak onto web before Paris debut

Just last week, we got our first look at what appears to be the production-ready 2013 Jaguar F-Type courtesy of a single leaked image, and now we can see even more of the new Jaguar thanks to a handful of new pictures from Autoweek.nl. The new shots show the droptop from all angles and, just as importantly, they give us our first look at the interior. Funk Flex

Auto Talk: Maserati to show GranCabrio MC in Paris

Maserati sure seems to be milking the GranTurismo franchise for all its worth these days. In addition to plenty of limited editions and sport models for both the coupe and convertible, Maserati recently launched the MC version of the hardtop. Now, ahead of its debut at the Paris Motor Show, the Modenese automaker has dropped details on its latest iteration of the GT platform, the GranCabrio MC. Funk Flex

Auto Talk: Cheaper baby NSX back under consideration at Acura

Back in the salad days before the financial upheaval of 2008, Honda’s Acura division was reportedly planning to build not one, but two new NSX models. The first was/is the on again off again heir to the NSX throne (then a V10 rear-drive supercar, now the much ballyhooed hybrid all-wheel-drive affair revealed at January’s Detroit Auto Show). The second was to be a smaller, less expensive version, creatively dubbed by Honda internals as the “Small NSX.” Never let engineers name your pets, folks. Funk Flex

Auto Talk: Only about 5% of Chrysler dealers will sell SRT Viper

Back in May, we were the first to reveal that Chrysler was going to be requiring that its dealers meet certain special criteria to sell the 2013 SRT Viper. Now, USA Today is reporting that no more than 6.5 percent of Chrysler’s U.S. dealerships will earn the right to sell the new Viper. Of the 2,300 dealerships, “only about 100 to 150” will satisfy the qualifications SRT has deemed necessary to satisfy the “different kind of a customer” and “different approach” that the Viper requires. That’s far fewer outlets than the one-fifth of Chrysler’s dealer body that was rumored back in July. Funk Flex

Auto Talk: 2013 Honda CR-Z facelift revealed in Indonesia

We fully expected Honda to reveal its facelifted 2013 CR-Z hybrid at the Paris Motor Show next week, but instead, the Japanese automaker has brought its updated three-door to the Indonesia International Motor Show, and the people over at PaulTan.org were on hand to get the details. Funk Flex

Auto Talk: Honda butching up Crosstour for 2013 because ‘people weren’t exactly sure what it was’

When the Honda Accord Crosstour launched back in 2009 as a 2010 model, we didn’t quite know what to make of it. We weren’t exactly taken with its styling and we didn’t get its value equation, either. It drove well enough, but fell behind the segment’s fierce competition in terms of space, amenities, visibility and pricing. The market seemed to agree, and the model never got near Honda’s (traditionally conservative) sales projections of 40,000 units per year. Funk Flex

Auto Talk: Audi debuts redesigned five-door A3 Sportback

The five-door version of the Audi A3, the A3 Sportback, has been revealed, and as with its three-door sibling, it won’t be coming to the U.S. We Americans can look forward to our own sedan version of the same car. The third-generation A3 is only a smidge larger dimensionally than the outgoing Sportback, but has dropped up to 198 pounds compared to the previous hatch thanks to increased use of high- and ultra-strength steel and aluminum parts like the hood and fenders. With the 1.4-liter TFSI engine it weighs just 2,657 pounds. The biggest measurement growth is in the wheelbase: the front axle has been moved forward 1.57 inches and the wheelbase overall has grown by 2.28 inches. Funk Flex

Auto Talk: Audi distances itself from Chinese dealer with ‘We Must Exterminate The Japanese’ banner

Some background: if you’ve scanned news headlines over the past few weeks, you’ve probably come across mentions of a spat between China and Japan over some islands in the East China Sea. The territorial controversy isn’t new, as both countries have claimed ownership of the group of uninhabited islands – which the Chinese call Diaoyu and the Japanese call Senkaku – for a while. The tension has been climbing recently, however, because the owner of the islands sold them to Japan, after which various groups of Chinese and Japanese nationals have been alternately heading to the islands and planting their country’s flag, each incident provoking a more vocal response.
