Auto: Orange County Choppers Files Bankruptcy

The company that shot to fame with their reality TV series and custom chopper bikes has hit a rough patch. Hudson Valley Merchandising, which is the name Orange County Choppers uses for their merchandise division, filed for bankruptcy last week in Poughkeepsie, NY. This comes after last year when the bank, GE Commercial Fiance, took over the gorgeous, all glass building the company calls home in upstate, NY. OCC holding, the parent company, which includes the building of the bikes, is not part of the bankruptcy, however it may just be a matter of time with the way things are going. They were a local brand that became hugely successful and popular so I am definitely pulling for these guys to make it through.

Auto: GM Could Lose $918 Million In Lawsuit

Sounds like GM is about to have some problems. A judge is looking into the possibility that when GM took a buyout from the government in 2009 and had the company restructured, that a huge chunk of the money was purposely diverted to hedge fund holders. This was done without many people knowing, and also at the expense of other creditors. If the judge decides that this was improper, he could open up the lawsuit which could wind up costing GM close to a BILLION dollars. Hit the link after the jump. IamJOE357

Twinkies May Be Safe After All!

Hostess’ going out of business, and knocking Twinkies off the shelf have sent people over the top. I mean people are spending thousands of dollars on a couple boxes of Twinkies. There maybe hope yet, my cream-filled cake lovers. Bimbo, the company who bought out Sara Lee for $959 million, is talking about buying out Hostess’. Other companies are looking into this investment, but I think Bimbo has got this one in the bag. I mean $959MiL. That’s a whole heap a money. Hostess’ bankruptcy has to deal with the high sugar prices in the U.S. A company like Bimbo, who buys sugar for a cheaper price, from Mexico can help with this problem. I hope so, because I need my wonder bread. Did you know that was on the list of products made by Hostess’ as well? Drop down bottom for more. JaaiR (JR)
