(Video) BET Previews Dave East’s Cameo On ‘Being Mary Jane’

Photo Credit: BET [Screenshot] Dave East had a breakout 2016, landing the XXL Freshman cover, touring the country, charting with his Kairi Chanel mixtape and most notably, signing a record deal with Def Jam. Now he’ll be kicking off 2017 with another major accolade – his first acting gig. The Harlem rapper will appear on the season premiere of BET’s Being Mary Jane. In a preview of the cameo, Dave can be seen playing himself, performing on a show and then being interviewed by Gabrielle Union’s character. Gaby has previously stated in interviews that she’s a fan of East’s music, so it wouldn’t be surprising if his appearance was a personal request from the star herself! Check out the clip below. Being Mary Jane premieres on January 10.

Gabrielle Union Settles ‘Being Mary Jane’ Lawsuit With BET

Earlier this fall, Gabrielle Union filed a lawsuit against BET Networks over their show that she stars in, Being Mary Jane. In the suit, Gaby alleged that they’d breached their contract by trying to squeeze two seasons of episodes into one, so that they didn’t have to pay her the extra money per episode she was guaranteed in the next season. The actress was seeking more than $1 million in damages, as well as to have her contract amended immediately to reflect their oral agreement of 13 max episodes per season. Today, they announced the suit is not only settled, but a release date for the next season has been set!

Cardi B Cast On ‘Being Mary Jane’

According to a new report, Cardi B has landed a guest appearance on the BET hit series, Being Mary Jane. In the episode, Cardi won’t stray too far from her real life as she will play a reality star named Mercedes. Per the description of her character:

[Mercedes is a] round-the-way beauty with a big weave, big boobs and a big booty to match her oversized, ratchet personality.

Sounds like a no-brainer!

Gabrielle Union Sues BET Over ‘Being Mary Jane’

It appears that fans are going to have to wait even longer for the next season of Gabrielle Union’s hit show Being Mary Jane. Gabrielle just filed a lawsuit against the show’s network, BET, claiming they’re trying to get her to do two seasons for the price of one. Gabrielle says that network execs promised her multiple times that there would never be more than 13 episodes in a season. Her contract also states that she gets a pay raise from $150k per episode to $165k per episode in Season 5. Instead, BET is reportedly trying to cram 20 episodes into season 4 and spacing them out, instead of making it two seasons!
