Billboard’s Top 10 Album Sales, Week Ending 2/2/14 … 7 Out Of 10 Albums Helped By The Grammys!

The Grammys aired last Sunday, the same day the Billboard charts close out, so last week’s sales were only effected a teeny bit by the performances. This week, however, we see the full impact a performance and/or win on the Grammys can do, and 7 out of 10 albums on the charts were directly helped by the big night. Check out the list below!


Katy Perry & Juicy J Are On Top

Katy Perry has yet another hit on her hands, and Juicy J is riding the wave right along with her. Their collab “Dark Horse” off Katy’s recent album PRISM has shot to number one, becoming KP’s ninth number one single…thanks in part to their performance of the song at the Grammys on Sunday. However, with the chart tally closing on Sunday night, we’ll see the full impact of their performance on next week’s charts. “Dark Horse” hitting number one brings Katy into a five-way tie for 10th place among artists with the most toppers in the chart’s 55-year history. The Beatles lead with 20 number ones, followed by Mariah Carey (18), Michael Jackson, Rihanna (13 each), Madonna, the Supremes (12 each), Whitney Houston (11), Janet Jackson and Stevie Wonder (10 each). Billboard’s Top 10 Album Sales, Week Ending 1/26/14 … Grammy Compilation Debuts Big!

The Grammy compilation album, comprised of performers and nominees from that year’s broadcast, typically drops a few weeks before the show, but this year, it was released the very same week. However, this proved to actually help, as it starts with the best debut sales week for the yearly compilation series since 2007, coming in at number 2 with 59k. Get the full top 10 list below.
