Twenty two years ago, David Knapp was removed of the Boy Scouts of America because he was gay. As of this week he is able to rejoin and be eligible to become a Boy Scout Leader. I’m not sure if after all this time he is still interested in taking on the role but there are a lot of people happy to have the discriminating ban of such a wholesome organization lifted. The restriction on openly Gay leaders and employees has officially been removed.

The Boy Scouts of America have been getting backlash from musicians all over and the next on the roster – MADONNA. The “Like a Virgin” singer attended the GLAAD Media Awards Ceremony dressed in a boy scouts uniform. “I wanted to be a Boy Scout, but they wouldn’t let me join,” Madonna said during a speech. “I think that’s f***ed up. The “Call Me Maybe” singer, Carly Rae Jepsen as well as pop/rock group, Train have decided to pull themselves from a show that was SUPPOSE to be given at the National Scout Jamboree in Mount Hope, West Virginia in July. Since the booking, Jepsen has took to her twitter to express her feelings on why she will not be at the show stating, “I always have and will continue to support the LGBT community on a global level …” Train too, has decided to drop from the show saying that they will rejoin if the Boy Scouts of America changes their anti-gay laws. In all honesty, this is something I don’t think anyone should be forcing on a group like the Boy Scouts to conform to. This is an elite group. According to Train, they didn’t know about the rules of Boy Scouts, but come on…they have never allowed openly gay members in, so they need to stop acting brand new. Files On Alleged Sexual Abuse Within The Boy Scouts Of America Released !!!
We’ve talked about this before, but now it’s official. The Boy Scouts of America had to fork over records dating back as far as 1985 of alleged sexual abuse cases. There were some scout leaders that were suspended for the allegations, however this was never made public, nor was it reported to the police. This sickens my stomach since I have two little cousins that’s involved in this program. Like the logo says, they are suppose to represent values and honoring, but this is not a representation of such. I really hope all parties involved gets what they got coming.
