The cleanup begins… The Brooklyn Nets hired Sean Marks as their new general manager and he has a lot of work ahead of him cleaning up the mess left by Billy King.  The first order of business is waiving former All-Star and the $100 million man, Joe Johnson.

NBA: Report, Deron Williams Asked For Buyout Because Of Fight With Coach Earlier In The Season

Deron Williams just convinced the Nets to buy him out of his remaining contract with the team for about $25-30 million dollars. He will now sign with his hometown Dallas Mavericks for two years/$10 million dollars. He is getting out of NY with a lot of money for not doing much but according to reports, part of the reason he wants to go is because of a long standing feud with head coach, Lionel Hollins.

Amare Stoudemire is in the final year of his infamous contract with the New York Knicks, one that will pay him more than $23 million this season.  There’s been reports that Stoudemire will consider a buyout if he can go to a championship contending team.  Well it looks like a major team would welcome him with open arms.

Because this season is obviously already long over for New York and it it is the final year of his contract, a buyout would make sense so he could try and end this season with a contender. For his part it sounds like he would consider it.

The Brooklyn Nets are tumbling down.  They have a 18-28 record with the 9th spot in the Eastern Conference.  So it would only seem logical that Kevin Garnett would jump ship, seek a buyout and join a contender.  At 38-years old, this could be his final season in the league.  Well it turns out leaving the Nets isn’t in his plans.

Auto: GM Could Lose $918 Million In Lawsuit

Sounds like GM is about to have some problems. A judge is looking into the possibility that when GM took a buyout from the government in 2009 and had the company restructured, that a huge chunk of the money was purposely diverted to hedge fund holders. This was done without many people knowing, and also at the expense of other creditors. NBA: Hornets Expected to Buyout Rashard Lewis, He’s Looking to Join a Championship Contending Team

Rashard Lewis was traded to the New Orleans Hornets on Wednesday, but it’s unlikely he’ll ever suit up for the team. Lewis will almost certainly be waived before July 1, according to sources close to the situation.
