Chinx Discusses Stack Bundles Legacy, Inner Demons, Selling Drugs & More

Chinx Drugz has been in the music game for quite some time, but many of you are probably just hearing about him in the last year or so, thanks in part to his frequent collaborations with French Montana. The Far Rockaway, Queens native came up with the late Stack Bundles over a decade ago, but was away doing a 4-year bid when Stack saw the peak of his celebrity. Unfortunately, Chinx was also locked up when we lost Stack. Upon his release in 2008, he kept grinding, determined to keep Stack’s legacy alive. Now in 2013, he’s got singles in heavy rotation on the radio, a new EP and a whole new outlook on life. Oh, and a new name. In an incredibly candid new interview with the Village Voice, Chinx (no longer using the ‘Drugz’) discusses his drug-selling past, his struggles and more. Check out a few excerpts below. (Then check out his freestyle on Flex’s show last night here if you missed it!)

Chinx Talks, “Feelings,” And Meeting French Montana!!

Chinx Drugz is working his way up to the top! He hits us off with some serious fire on the Funk Flex show, and now he states that, “Feelings” is an anthem, just like, “I’m A Coke Boy,” was. “I got the anthem to our movement…At the time when that record [“I’m A Coke Boy“] came out, the record was so dope and unfortunately I wasn’t ready and well-equipped on the business side,” to start pushing it,” Chinx tells, XXL. “Now, I got…”Feelings,” and it’s catching way more damage.” That it is! Chinx also releases the facts on meeting French Montana and his style. Hit the jump for more.

Did Chinx Drugz Drop The “Drugz” From His Name?

Has the time come? It seems like it! Names that reference drugs, killing, or really any illegal activity really never get too far in the mainstream. Uncle Murda learned that along the way, and eventually changed his name to Uncle M. Seems like Coke Boys’ Chinx Drugz is following in the same footsteps, as the artwork for his new single “Feelings” has the “Drugz” noticeably absent. His fame has been steadily rising over the last couple of years, so it seems like the right decision! What do you think?
