NFL: Coldplay to Headline Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show, Beyoncé in Talks For Guest Appearance

Aside from you know which two teams will be playing, the big announcement for the Super Bowl is who will be the halftime performer.  Well for the upcoming Super Bowl on February 7th, 2016, the halftime performer will be Coldplay.

As we previously reported, Coldplay has decided to include Beyonce and Blue Ivy on their upcoming album, A Head Full of Dreams due for release December 4th. Beyonce is featured on a track called “Hymn for the Weekend.” Chris Martin told The Wall Street Journal the song was inspired by the club. He said, “The original kernel was that I was listening to Flo Rida or something, and I thought, it’s such a shame that Coldplay could never have one of those late-night club songs, like ‘Turn Down for What.’ What would we call it if we had one?” Now it’s here and they would call it ‘Hymn for the Weekend.’ Take a listen below.

Coldplay’s new album Ghost Stories marks the group’s fourth number one album…as well as the biggest sales week of 2014 thus far! The project sold 383,000 copies in the week ending May 25, easily taking Eric Church’s crown, who previously held the title with “The Outsiders” moving 288k units in the week ending February 16.
