Def Jam’s Rick Rubin Is Legally Changing His Name?!

It’s safe to say that Def Jam founder Rick Rubin is one of the most key players in the Hip-Hop game. However, he’s not fully happy with himself because he HATES his real name and wants to change it immediately. On his birth certificate it says Frederick Jay Rubin, but he’s recently hit up the courts to legally change it to just “Rick Rubin” like we all know and love. Hey man, whatever floats your boat!

According to reports, as well as a picture posted on Def jam’s Instagram account, it looks like Chi-town’s Common has parted ways (contractually only, hopefully) with Kanye West’s GOOD Music. But Common’s not indie, he’s now signed to No I.D.’s Artium/Def Jam label. More info after the jump.

He also chopped it up with the homie Kaz over at the STASHED, and discussed his forthcoming debut album, his upbringing as a biracial child in Maryland who watched both parents abuse drugs and alcohol and more.
