NBA: Avery Bradley: ‘I Should Always Be In That Conversation For [Defensive Player of the Year]’

Avery Bradley was presented with his award for being named to the NBA’s All-Defense first team last season.  He said the award looks exactly the same as the All-Defense second team award he took home the 2012-13 season.  As he continues to move upward, he wants the big award that no guard has won in the two decades since Gary Payton claimed it during the 1995-96 season, the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award.


NBA: Kawhi Leonard Named Defensive Player of the Year For the 2nd Year in a Row

The San Antonio Spurs’ Kawhi Leonard, who helped the team finish with the NBA’s top defense this season, is the recipient of the 2015-16 Kia NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award, the NBA announced today. Leonard, a 6-7 forward, becomes the first non-center to earn the honor in back-to-back seasons since Dennis Rodman in 1989-90 and 1990-91.


NBA: Kawhi Leonard Named Defensive Player Of The Year

After winning the 2014 Finals MVP, Kawhi Leonard of the Sand Antonio Spurs just added more hardware to his trophy case, winning the 2015 Defensive Player of the year award. Leonard beat out front runners Deandre Jordan and Draymond Green of the Los Angeles Clippers and Golden State Warriors respectively.


NBA (Report): Joakim Noah Named Defensive Player of the Year

Congratulations to Joakim Noah!  He will be named NBA Defensive Player of the Year & will join Michael Jordan (’88) as only Bulls players to win the honor! Hit the jump for details…


NBA: Uh-Oh.. Who Got Lebron Pissed Off??

Tell em’ why you mad Bron’! Lebron usually doesn’t let things get to him, especially in front of the cameras, but he clearly was feeling some sort of way after hearing he did not win Defensive player of the year. Players always say the politically correct thing when asked about personal awards, but we all know inside they are dying to win awards as validation for what they do on the court. NFL: Texans DE JJ Watt Wins Defensive Player of the Year

No surprise here as Houston Texans defensive end JJ Watt terrorized teams all year with one of the best defensive seasons in NFL history.  It’s only fitting that he end it off winning the Defensive Player of the Year award.  Read more after the jump.
