Posted by Sabrina B. @gametimegirl The Derek Jeter 3,000 hit lovefest continued this weekend as his New York Yankees teammates honored the Captain with a statue — of himself — before Saturday’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays. Commissioned by Jorge Posada and CC Sabathia, the 225-pound stainless steel sculpture is a likeness of Jeter waving his cap above a giant “3,000.” The Yankees also honored Jeter with crystal vase and other goodies on Saturday.  Check it out after the jump…

Yesterday Derek Jeter made history as a New York Yankee for making his 3,000 hit in his career. After the game, Yes Network caught up with Yank’s Celeb Friend Jay-Z (we call him Hov) in the crowd in the tunnel outside the Yankees’ clubhouse after the game and asked him his thoughts on Jeter’s 3K hit.
