Boy Meets World’s Shawn (aka Rider Strong) Comments On Spin-Off Show

Rider Strong (far left) played Cory’s best friend Shawn on the 90’s hit show Boy Meets World. Ever since news hit that the show will be getting a spin-off on the Disney Channel, people have been wondering who from the original cast will be joining. Both Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga (Danielle Fishel) have officially signed on to reprise their roles, but there’s been no other information released in regards to the other stars like big brother Eric (Will Friedel), the neighbor/principal Mr. Feeny (William Daniels…who’s got to be old as HECK now, LOL) and of course, Shawn. Of the latter, however, TMZ finally got their hands on an official statement from Rider regarding his involvement. Will he be on the show? Find out below! Marisa Mendez

OMG! Boy Meets World Sequel May Be Coming To The Disney Channel!

I am currently typing this post with a full grin and my excitement level through the roof. Being an 80’s baby (’87, what up!) Boy Meets World was a staple of my Friday night shows as a pre-teen in the mid 90’s. So many of us grew up with Cory and Topanga, and watched their relationship develop over the years, resulting in their interesting decision to marry very young when the show came to an end. While Nickelodeon has brought many of our favorite shows back in their original form via a nightly 90’s Nick block, the Disney channel is taking a different approach into resurrecting the show, and it’s coming in the form of a sequel! TV Line reports that early talks are in the works for “Girl Meets World,” a series that will follow Cory and Topanga’s pre-teen daughter through her trials and tribulations. And get this…Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel are both in talks to reprise their roles! If they brought back Rider Strong (Sean) and Will Friedel (Eric) as well, I’d just die! LOL! I truly think this is a genius idea, as it will pull two completely different age demographics for their audience, with Disney’s current core market of kids obviously set to tune in, and our generation that would be watching for nostalgia purposes. Smart move! Let’s hope this pans out! Marisa Mendez
