(Video) US Crushes One Ton Of Ivory In Times Square

Yesterday US officials took a stand against the illicit ivory trade. Their message was clear as one ton of elephant ivory was crushed in the middle of Times Square. The ivory was turned to powder as a massive rock crusher destroyed thousands of carvings, statues, and raw elephant tusks. Lawmakers, wildlife officials, conservationists and supporters all attended this important and moving rally. Check out the video after the jump.

Police confirmed that 3 elephants escaped the Shrine Circus in St. Charles on Saturday afternoon. They must of had a lot of fun roaming through the parking lot because they caused damage to multiple cars. If I was an owner of one of those cars I would be tight!! Whoa! In India, it’s not uncommon for trains to hit elephants as their herds cross the tracks. As recent as last month, a total of 7 were either seriously injured or killed as they traveled. Hit the jump footage!

Vodka Helps In The Cold Weather!

Russians can probably solve a lot of problems with vodka, including this following one. Two circus elephants were forced to step into freezing temperatures after their trailer had burned down. They were subjected to pneumonia and frostbite, but instead their trainers added vodka to their water in order to save them from frostbite! It completely helped them before they were escorted somewhere else. So in freezing temperatures, drink vodka to warm up? Steph B

Elephants in Africa are being killed at an alarming rate as the international demand for ivory is on the rise. Corruption through Africa is one of the main causes for this increase.
