A 71 year-old woman was slashed in the face with a razor on a downtown 6 train Monday (January 25th) morning. According to police the unprovoked attack occurred around 7AM, before the train reached the Soho station. The victim, Carmen Rivera was sitting across from the man when he slashed her with the razor, leaving a four inch gash across her left cheek. She was taken to Bellevue Hospital. More below.
