Jennifer Lopez Gets Honored At GLAAD Awards!

As the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation Media Awards, kicked of in L.A, those in support of equality were present and honored for their efforts! Transgender ‘Orange Is the New Black’ actress Laverne Cox was honored with flowers on stage during her speech and stated ‘“We are not programmed to think we should receive these kind of awards, but I’d like to think that things are changing.”


Frank Ocean Has Been Nominated For A GLAAD Media Award

GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) has nominated Frank Ocean to receive the Media Award, in the Outstanding Music Artist category. Other nominees include Adam Lambert and the Scissor Sister. The group stated, “This year’s nominees enlighten and entertain, but also reflect a new American landscape where a growing majority accept and value their LGBT family, colleagues and friends. We all know Azealia Banks doesn’t bite her tongue or watch her mouth, ever, so it’s no surprise that she said some crazy stuff while feuding with celebrity blogger, Perez Hilton. During the twitter war, Azealia used a gay slur at him, and now she’s feeling the backlash. GLAAD Speaks Out Against MTV for Giving an Award to Tyler, the Creator

Someone isn’t too GLAAD with MTV right about now! The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, has issued a statement addressing Tyler, The Creator’s recent win for Best New Artist at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards this past weekend. The Odd Future frontman is known for having quite a few homophobic slurs in his music and they don’t think it was very responsible of MTV to reward that.
