The Global Spin Awards is back for its 3rd annual year, honoring some of the best DJ’s in the world. At a press conference earlier this week, Kid Capri, our own Funk Master Flex, DJ Premier, REVOLT CEO Keith Clinkscales, and Rob Kenner of Boomshots and Editor at Large at Mass Appeal did the honors of announcing the nominees for nearly 30 categories of DJ Culture. The full list of nominees as well as a short clip from the press conference are after the jump. The award show will take place November 18th at the New World Stage in NYC.

Respect the DJ! VIBE Magazine caught up with our very own Funk Flex backstage at the Global Spin Awards where he won a few awards. Although this was the first year of the award show or one of this kind, Flex said that DJs are recognized as a strong force in the game, as they should be. Congrats to all of our Hot 97 family and of course Flex for their nominations and wins!
