(Video/Photos) Local Houston Artist Upset That Drake Is Hosting #HoustonAppreciationWeekend; Drake Responds

Drake just wrapped up his second annual Houston Appreciation Weekend, but his haters have not stopped hating. This year, Drake found new ways to honor native artists like Bun B and recognize the entire city, including their local government and, of course, the kids. While most think Drake’s appreciation weekend was admirable, there’s one local artist who called out the OVO founder for not representing local talent during #HAW. See what this Houston rapper had to say after the jump!

Drake Set To Host Second Annual ‘Houston Appreciation Weekend’

For the second year in a row, October’s own Drake is set to host yet another “Houston Appreciation Weekend” (HAW) in the city closest to his heart after Toronto. Drizzy will be taking his talents down south to Texas this Memorial Day Weekend to kick off the weekend of fun in H-Town. HAW paves the way for Drake to raise both money and awareness for a variety of different charities based in the Greater Houston area.

(Video) First Time For Everything: Drake Puffs That La On Stage With Wiz Khalifa At #HAW

Drake put on a helluva show in Houston over the weekend as part of his first annual ‘Houston Appreciation Weekend,’ bringing out stars like Big Sean, YG and Wiz Khalifa to assist in performing some of his biggest hits. When the latter appeared on stage, he encouraged Drizzy to spark one up – something that’s quite common at a Wiz show, but never before done at a Drake show! There’s a first time for everything, clearly, as Drake shrugged with an unapologetic “f*ck it”, grabbed the joint and puffed away. Check out the video below. Wonder if we’ll be seeing more of this at future shows, like perhaps on the ‘Drake vs. Wayne’ tour?

Drake Releases A LITTLE More Details About ‘Houston Appreciation Weekend’

After simply announcing back in March that ‘Houston Appreciation Weekend’ would be coming soon, Drake has slowly but surely revealed more details about the event…though we still don’t know all that much. A month after the original announcement, Drizzy revealed that it’d be going down June 13th to 15th, and now a month after THAT announcement, we have a little more information. Taking to Twitter last night with the news, Drake announced that he will kick off the 3-day event with a performance at Warehouse Live. Check out the tweet in the gallery. Hopefully we get the full itinerary soon!
