Soldier Wanted In Hurricane Homicides

Police officers in Virgina and Pennsylvania are on the hunt for a US Solider. 37-year-old John Leonard Egland is wanted for going on a killing spree yesterday as Irene slammed the East Coast. According to authorities, Egland allegedly killed three people in Virgina before killing one person in Pennsylvania! Egland also opened fire at police officers on two occasions, shooting one officer. East River And Manhattan River Starting To Spill Over Banks

Both the East and Manhattan Rivers have begun to flood and spill over the river banks. The flooding rivers have begun pouring more water into New York City and flooding first floor apartments in some areas. Sanitation Departments in the area have also started to flood. (Video) Ron Paul Says There’s No Need For Federal Response To Irene

Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul has said that “there’s no magic about FEMA.” Paul has also stated that he sees no need for federal response in dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Irene. Paul, who lives in Texas, says that he deals with hurricanes all the time and says FEMA is just a “great contribution to deficit financing.” Watch his statement after the jump. @Julie1205


Update! Irene Has Now Been Downgraded To A Tropical Storm!

Having left a few people dead and thousands without power, Irene has now been downgraded to a tropical storm. Although the storm has been downgraded doesn’t mean you should leave you house. Hit the jump for a list of some road closures and other hazards. @Julie1205
