(Video) Jimmy Iovine & Dr. Dre At USC’s Commencement Ceremony

On Friday, USC’s class of 2013 got a surprise speech by Dr. Dre. Interscope Records honcho, Jimmy Iovine, was slated to speak at the commencement ceremony and then called Dr. Dre to take the stage. Iovine and Dre recently donated $70 million to start The Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation at the university that will specialize in students who plan on majoring in arts, computer science, visual design, marketing, and more.  Watch part of Iovine’s speech and all of Dre’s speech below.

Def Jams Records President, Joie Manda Calls It Quits To Move On Over To Interscope Records

The man behind the signing of Trinidad James is president no more. Well, at least not at Def Jam Records. Joie Manda has resigned today and let out a statement that fills us in a little bit on his plans. “I am truly grateful to Barry [Weiss], John [Janick] and Jimmy Iovine for this exciting new opportunity,” Manda said. That new opportunity being the new president of urban music for Interscope Records. While in this position, Manda will work with artists like Kendrick Lamar, French Montana and Eminem. M.I.A. Album Due In April!!! See Who She Blames For Her Delay!?!?

M.I.A. has been working on some new music and says her album is slated for an April release, but she blames her label for her absence. Apparently the label wasn’t all too happy with the music she was making, saying that it was “too positive”, they wanted her to darken up her sound.
