Subway Service Won’t Be Back Until Late Monday

For those who have to face the Monday morning commute, it will be ten times harder tomorrow morning to get to where you have to be. Mayor Bloomberg has said that although they are doing their best to restore service, most transit lines will be closed “well into Monday.” Workers will be working around the clock to pump out as much water as they can, but it takes a full eight hours for the subways to get running once they have been shut down. Update! Irene Has Now Been Downgraded To A Tropical Storm!

Having left a few people dead and thousands without power, Irene has now been downgraded to a tropical storm. Although the storm has been downgraded doesn’t mean you should leave you house. Hit the jump for a list of some road closures and other hazards. @Julie1205


UPDATE: Hurricane death toll at 9; Tornado damages 17 homes in Delaware; Tornado Watch Issued for New Jersey and New York!!

Right now, a majority of Hurricane Irene is in Maryland but the outskirts of the hurricane have caused tornadoes in Delaware destroying 17 homes and causing one more death.
