NBA: Jason Kidd Not Only Confesses To Purposely Spilling Drink, Also Says It Was Worth It

Brooklyn Nets head coach Jason Kidd needed to pull out a win over the Lakers and with no timeouts left to draw up a play he thunk fast and came up with a plan.  While holding a drink he told Nets’ guard Tyshawn Taylor to “hit me”, spilling the drink and giving him that extra timeout while workers cleaned it up.  Kidd initially denied he did it purposely even though the video clearly shows him saying “hit me” but after a $50,000 fine levied by the league, he fessed up.

(Video) NBA: Nets Coach Jason Kidd Fined $50,000 For This “Accident”!

Jason Kidd was always a very smart player. When he got older and wasn’t as fast as the younger guys he used his brain even more to gain advantages. Now as coach of the Nets, he tried to use quick thinking again, but the NBA wasn’t buying it. Kidd was fined $50,000 yesterday for what they deemed purposely spilling his drink on the court to stop the clock to setup a final play against the Lakers. The Nets had no more timeouts left and coach needed a way to draw up a final play for the win. The video appears to show coach telling Tyshawn Taylor to “hit me” while Taylor walked near the Nets bench. Kidd denied it saying, “Cup slipped out of my hand while I was getting Ty,” Kidd said of “Cupgate.” “Sweaty palms. I was never good with the ball. In the heat of the battle, you’re trying to get guys in and out of the game, and the cup fell out of my hand.” When he says he was never good with the ball you know he is mocking the situation because he was one of the best point guard’s of all time. It was a nice try Kidd, but $50,000 is still $50,000. Hit the jump for the video for those who have not seen it.

Jason Kidd denies that he told Taylor to hit him & said he had sweaty palms. Really? Because there aren’t cameras everywhere. Lmao, SMH. I’m pretty sure the NBA is going to investigate. NBA: Criticism Rises For Jason Kidd As a Head Coach Veteran Scout Says ‘He Doesn’t Do Anything’

Before the monster trade that brought Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce to the Brooklyn Nets they did something else that shocked the league; hired Jason Kidd as the new head coach just days after he announced his retirement.  With five All-Stars on the team and what’s considered one of the deepest benches in the league, the expectations were high but so far they’ve failed to even come close.  Though they’ve been stricken with injury word around the league is, that first offseason decision is the cause of it all.
