* 1/28/13 – 3:29pm A few arrests have been made in connection with the fire that took 230+ lives early Sunday morning. A band that was playing the the club named, Gurizada Fandangueira launched fireworks that exploded into the venue’s foam soundproofing and ignited the fast-moving flames. Co-owner of the club, Elissandro Spohr, as well as the band’s lead singer and a security chief for the group were the ones to arrested for the crime. Lead singer of the band, Marcelo Santos was arrested while attending the wake for bandmate Danilo Jacques, the group’s accordion player who perished in the fire. [NY Daily News] * 1/28/13 – 12:27am More photos from inside the Brazilian club fire. This is a crazy and sad tragedy. More than 230 party-goers died last night during a fire in Brazil. Kiss nightclub in Santa Maria showed the scene of death. Putting the fire out lasted until the wee hours of the morning with family members shedding tears over their loved ones. Bodies were scattered everywhere and the deaths were primarily caused by smoke inhalation and being stomped on by other party-goers trying to escape the flames. (Photos) Fire Kills Over 245 People In Brazil Nightclub, Hundreds More Injured
The Kiss Club in Brazil had only one working exit, so when the bands pyrotechnic display went off and started a fire terror struck and calamity ensued. Over 500 people were jam packed in this club when the flames from a flare ignited the ceiling and turned half of the patrons into corpses before they could escape the room. Witnesses report seeing bodies everywhere. Many died from asphyxiation, others were trampled trying to force their way out of the single exit. Survivor Taynne Vendrusculo, had this to say, “When I looked around, all I saw were dead bodies all around, lying on the floor. It was macabre. It all happened so fast. Both the panic and the fire spread rapidly, in seconds.” Hit the jump for more.
[Audio] Killed Photog Was Positive Justin Bieber Was Smoking Weed
The photographer killed during a Justin Bieber chase yesterday was positive that Justin was smoking weed, and this could be the reason why he was so set on getting his photos. “Man, you won’t believe my luck,” he said in a call to his agency yesterday afternoon just before the incident. “It’s pretty dead in L.A. Everybody thinks Justin and Selena are in Mexico, but they’re not.” After revealing he saw [what he thought was] Justin smoking a weed pipe in his car, he quickly hung up to chase him. A new update in the sad story of the paparazzi killed in a Justin Bieber chase has developed, and we now have information and photos of the man involved. Chris Guerra was in his late 20s, and was working in a Las Vegas casino for a few years until this past March when he came to L.A. to become a photographer. He was not married and had no kids. Paparazzi Gets Killed While Trying To Snap Some Photos Of Justin Bieber ???
Actually, the Pap was trying to take photos of Justin Bieber’s Ferrari! The all white expensive car was speeding on the 405 in LA when the highway police signaled to have the car pull over. Meanwhile, a pap crossed the highway to get some photos of the incident. The police instructed him to return to his vehicle and as he was attempting to do so, he was struck by oncoming traffic. This is definitely loving your job to death. Turns out that Justin wasn’t even in the vehicle! Sad situation. Justin has since released a statement: “While I was not present nor directly involved with this tragic accident, my thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim, hopefully this tragedy will finally inspire meaningful legislation and whatever other necessary steps to protect the lives and safety of celebrities, police officers, innocent public bystanders, and the photographers themselves.” I know it’s about the money, but paps need to be more safe in what they do. Nine Killed, More Than 20 Injured In Charter Bus Crash In Oregon
A Charter bus headed for Vancouver, Canada crashed with some 40 passengers killing 9 and wounding countless more after the bus driver lost control on a patch of snow/ice. After the bus lost control it skidded down an embankment before sliding to a stop. The bus went through a guard rail and dropped about 200 feet down the side of a hill, officials are still trying to confirm the number of injuries after an incident like this it becomes increasingly difficult with people being rushed to hospitals for immediate attention.
