NBA: Kobe Bryant Calls Draymond Green a “Rare Breed” & Told Him to Create Tension With Warriors

Kobe Bryant doesn’t have many friends in the league but he does form bonds with players he sees himself in, including Rajon Rondo, Russell Westbrook and the latest Draymond Green.  During his 20th and final season in the NBA, Kobe zeroed in on Green, chatting with the young player during All-Star weekend and continuing to text throughout the season.  Green has been known for being outspoken, aggressive and a competitor so it’s no surprise Kobe latched onto him.  Bryant considers Draymond to be a “rare breed”, and one that can create the friction The Black Mamba believes every championship team needs.

President Obama borrowed a page from Kobe Bryant last night as he finished off the White House Correspondents Dinner. The POTUS had the crowd eating from the palm of his hands as he addressed them for the final time of his presidency and will likely be one of the final big gatherings before he leaves office. The President closed his speech with “Obama Out” and even went all out with the mic drop. Kobe Bryant must have been watching from home because he responded on twitter shortly after.

(Photo) NBA: Pieces Of Staples Center Hardwood From Kobe’s Final Game Are Being Auctioned Off

The Lakers have cashed in on Kobe’s retirement tour, selling all the merchandise related to the Mamba saying farewell that they can. During the night of his final game, the Staples Center was selling hats for more than $38,000 and $24,000 respectively, among other rare, expensive items. Even after his retirement they are still cashing out, as now pieces of the floor from his final game are hitting the auction block and they aren’t cheap.

NBA: Here’s Why Kobe Bryant Hasn’t Spoken To His Parents In Three Years

With all the fan fare and admiration from his peers and the media during his farewell tour, it was easy to miss that none of Kobe’s family members were ever around. No, I’m not referring to his wife Vanessa and their children, I am referring to his parents and sisters. We didn’t see any of them at any games or on any courts as Kobe soaked in the love from fans one last time and it turns out it’s because Kobe hasn’t spoken to his parents in years and has somewhat of a rocky relationship with his sisters. As you might assume, all the hostility stems from money.

NBA: Shaq Speaks On If He Ever Really Forgave Kobe For Snitching On Him

The hype surrounding Kobe Bryant’s final game in the NBA came at a great time for the Lakers because it made people, at least temporarily, forget about the drama with D’Angelo Russell and Nick Young and the whole snitching incident between them. It is likely that Young won’t be back next season with the Lakers as they look to Russell to lead them into the future but it brought back memories of two other famous Lakers teammates bickering over a snitching incident of their own. Shaq & Kobe’s relationship soured real bad after Kobe snitched on him to police in Colorado during his interviews regarding the rape charges he was facing at the time.

NBA: Nick Young Alleges Kobe Refused To Sign His Adidas Kicks & Threw Them In The Trash Instead

It has been a rough few weeks for Nick Young to say the least. His relationship at home with fiance Iggy Azalea is on the rocks thanks to his immature teammate D’Angelo Russell recording a not so nice conversation involving Young talking about other women. His play has been horrible and in fact he hasn’t even touched the court in a few weeks either after coach Byron Scott decided he wasn’t “mentally” with the team. As if all those things weren’t enough, according to Young, when he asked Kobe to sign his sneakers after his final game, instead of an autograph he got a reality check.
