The big news yesterday was that Toronto’s mayor, Rob Ford, admitted to smoking crack. It’s not really a sports story, but everyone in the sports world talked about it because he was rocking an NFL tie (see photo above) when he made the announcement. The Nets vs. Heat “rivalry” is definitely one to keep an eye on. With the addition of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry (all Lebron haters) to the Nets, things have heat up even more. On Friday night the Nets hosted the Heat for their home opener at the Barclays Center. Before the game tipped off several New York media members of course asked Lebron questions about the Nets, by the third question Lebron said he wouldn’t answer anymore and gave a funny reason why.

The Miami Heat tend to coast during the early part of the season but I’m gonna need Lebron James to wake up a bit. When you let a flat footed Paul Pierce with a 3 inch vertical block your shot then something is wrong (no offense Pierce lol). All jokes aside, the Nets played quite well last night on both ends of the floor and were able to withstand the Heat’s last effort serge in the final minutes of the fourth quarter. I’m sure this block was the highlight of Pierce’s night, we all know how he feels about Lebron.
