NBA: Coach Mike D’Antoni Says Lakers Season Driving Him to Drink & Smoke

We all knew this Lakers season wouldn’t be a good one as they planned to enter rebuilding mode.  Not only that but injuries hit them hard especially losing their star player Kobe Bryant.  It’s been a lot for coach Mike D’Antoni to deal with and apparently it’s driving him to a pretty bad solution.


NBA: Steve Nash Eyeing February Return to the Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers have been hit hard by the injury bug especially in the guard department.  Steve Blake, Jordan Farmar, Kobe Bryant, Xavier Henry and Steve Nash have all gone down.  Nash most notably has missed the most time and things have looked bleek with reports of a possible medical retirement.  Nash however is eyeing a return as soon as next month but notes that it won’t be easy.


NBA: Coach Mike D’Antoni Tells Lakers Fans to Find Another Team if They’re Discouraged

For a fanbase that’s used to winning and being on top, things just aren’t going well for the Los Angeles Lakers.  After the monumental flop of their All-Star team last year, this year they’ve been bit by the injury bug, HARD.  They’ve lost all their point guards, Steve Nash, Steve Blake and Jordan Farmar.  Then the big blow happened when they lost Kobe Bryant to a knee fracture after gearing up for his big return.  With all the issues the Lakers are of course struggling and have a 13-15 record including losing to the Warriors and Suns by a combined 46 points.  Still despite all the setbacks the Lakers have a group of fighters playing their hearts out and D’Antoni has a message for the impatitent fans.

It’s no secret that the New York Knicks are considering trading young guard Iman Shumpert.  With the Lakers losing Steve Blake, Steve Nash and Jordan Farmar to injuries, they’re of course in search of a new guard.  Put the two situations together and you have a possible trade inquiry.

Once again Lakers forward Pau Gasol and Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni aren’t getting along.  The two have stepped it up a notch publicly criticizing each other.  While Gasol’s production continues to tumble and the Lakers facing rebuilding mode, it’s no secret they’re considering trading him.

Kobe Bryant’s return from an Achilles injury is not only important to the NBA, but to his fans as well.  In fact, it’s so important to one fan he cancelled what’s the supposed to be one of the biggest events in his life.
