Cleveland Bad Boy Machine Gun Kelly clarifies his “race is not an issue” comments he made to TMZ last week about Macklemore’s “White Privilege II” single during an exclusive interview with Billboard. (Video) Nas Talks Upcoming Film ‘The Land’ With MGK & Erykah Badu

As previously reported, Nas is the executive producer of and curating the soundtrack for The Land, an upcoming film about Cleveland that stars Machine Gun Kelly, Erykah Badu and more. After the film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last weekend, the legendary Queens rapper sat down with Revolt TV to share some more details on what to expect. “Lots of good talent in the film,” Nas said. “It’s based in Cleveland, in the hoods of Cleveland. … The timing worked out impeccably. So it’s just like living the life right now.” The Land will focus on four skateboarders from the 216, and their trials and tribulations as they moonlight as drug dealers. Machine Gun Kelly was in LAX yesterday to catch a flight to the Sundance Film Festival (where he performed last night alongside Erykah Badu and Nas to celebrate the premiere of their new film, The Land.) While walking through the airport, the “Till I Die” rapper was followed by a photog who apparently was a huge fan – but made the mistake of calling him “one of the top 5 white rappers.” “I mean I’m not just a great WHITE rapper,” an annoyed MGK responded. “I’m a great rapper, motherf*cker.” As the photog tried to backpedal, MGK elaborated on the issue of race in rap, and took a slight dig at Macklemore’s new song when he said, “Race is not an issue. Race is an issue for people like Macklemore and sh*t.” Welp! Check out the full clip below.

Nas To Produce Soundtrack For Cleveland Film ‘The Land’ (Starring MGK, Erykah Badu + More)

Nas has been tapped as the executive producer of Steve Caple Jr.‘s forthcoming film The Land, as well as the curator to its soundtrack. Per the press release, The Land “follows four teenage boys who pursue professional skateboarding as a way escaping the streets of Cleveland, only to get caught up with a local drug queen-pin.” Its stars include Cleveland native Machine Gun Kelly, as well as Erykah Badu, Michael K. Williams, Kim Coates and more.


Machine Gun Kelly Debuts At #4 With ‘General Admission’

Congrats are in order for my boy Machine Gun Kelly! He has the number 1 hip-hop in the country this week with the debut of his sophomore album General Admission, and the number 4 album overall! The project sold a solid 56k units in its first week in stores, and beating 2012’s Lace Up, which debuted and peaked at number 4 with 51k sold. The Game comes in at 6 with The Documentary 2.5 selling 48k, which is pretty dope – considering last week’s The Documentary also sold really well. In the coming weeks, the Compton rapper will package them together as a joint album. Check out this week’s top 10 below!
