Usher was left completely speechless, when his visit to the White House turned into a mini birthday celebration. October 14th, Usher celebrated his 37th birthday with a trip to Washington, D.C. to participate in ‘In Performance at the White House,’ an even described as an “all-star music tribute celebrating the cultural resonance of art and literature in unique American musical form.” During the meet and greet in the oval office, The Obamas had a cupcake, complete with candle brought out to Usher and sang him happy birthday. Back in September, Michelle Obama launched her #62MILLIONGIRLS campaign, to spread awareness about the 62 million girls worldwide who are not in school. The first lady has received tons of support from celebrities like Beyonce, Alicia Keys and Janelle Monae but also from all those who participated in her hashtag #62MillionGirls and sharing with the world what they learned in learned in school on Twitter and Instagram. Monday (October 11), the First Lady kicks of ‘International Day of the Girl’ with a celebration playlist via Spotify. The playlist is loaded with “girl power” tracks from artists like Beyonce to Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Hudson and Lauryn Hill. The playlist is intended to promote the “Lets Girl Learn” campaign to encourage education for girls all around the world”. Check it out below.
