(Photos) Peaceful Protests Held In Ferguson On The Anniversary Of Mike Brown’s Death

Yesterday, (August 8th) on the the anniversary of Mike Brown’s death, a peaceful protest made its way through the streets of Ferguson, Mo. The march was led by Brown’s father, Mike Brown Sr., to honor his son who was killed by a police officer last year. The protest was peaceful on all accounts, children played and officers handed out popsicles to the protestors to keep them cool. Just about 100 people attended the march, which traveled from Canfield Green Apartments, where Brown was shot, to Normandy High School, his alma mater where he graduated from just days before his death. Ferguson Hires Black Officer As New Interim Police Chief

Just days before the anniversary of the tragic killing of 18 year-old Mike Brown, the city of Ferguson announced they have hired new, black interim police chief.Andre Anderson who previously served as a commander with the Glendale Police Department in Arizona, was appointed Wednesday morning along with new city manager Ed Beasly by the city’s mayor. Following 25-year-old Freddie’s Gray’s death, at the hands of six Baltimore police officers, citizens and celebrities of all kind spread love for the city of rioting. Music icon, Prince recorded the track “Baltimore” dedicated to the city, and made the announcement that he would perform during a Baltimore Rally Concert. The concert that took place over the weekend, was streamed via the new digital live music service, TIDAL, which is most likely what brought out Jay Z and Beyoncé for the festivities. The two lovebirds, along with Bey’s mother, Tina Knowles Lawson and well-known philanthropist Alicia Keys also showed up to the event to meet Gray and fallen Ferguson, MO teen Mike Brown’s parents. Mike Brown’s Parents File Civil Suit Against The City Of Ferguson

The Parents of Mike Brown, the unarmed black teen killed by a white officer last year in Ferguson, Missouri, have filed a civil suit against the city of Ferguson. Anthony Gray and Daryl Parks, lawyers for the family have said that the civil lawsuit will consist of the same evidence that was shown to the grand jury that decided not to charge Officer Darren Wilson in the shooting.
