Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade goers found a some pretty interesting papers in the usual multicolored confetti. Apparently important, police documents were shredded and used during the parade and although the papers were shredded, the information on them were pretty legible. The documents which belonged to the Nassau County Police Department, held social security numbers, police officer’s banking information, incident reports, details of Mitt Romney’s motorcade, and more. The confetti was discovered by a college student after a piece fell on a friend’s shoulder. Macy’s has since denied that the papers were distributed by them saying they only use punched-out pieces, rather than shreds, of colorful paper. The worst part about this is that there are so many buildings along the parade route that anybody with the papers could have simply dumped them out the window. I hope nobody’s identity was put at a high risk because of it. Read more below. Julie A.
