Many hip-hop fans of color, creed and background tuned into VH1’s airing of, The Tanning of America: One Nation Under Hip Hop last evening. The first of the four part series detailed the culture’s evolution beginning with how it was perceived in black and white cultures. A great depiction was with television…The Jeffersons vs. All in the Family, Good Times vs. Happy Days etc. Artist such as Nas, Rick Rubin, Mariah Carey, Will i Am and Norman Lear were only a few to cast opinions on the topic.
