This is pretty big. Never expected the ‘Teen Choice Awards’ to touch base on something so sensitive such as innocent lives being taken away by police. Alton Sterling’s son, Cameron Sterling made an appearance at the award show. As part of a section during the ceremony, they did a call for peace in which they featured many other children. I’m glad that ceremony’s such as TCA can touch on topics such as this without being afraid of what society feels should should be kept away from children.

Being born in New York and raised in California, it exposes you to the socio-economic hardship that creates cumbersome issues for urban cities across America. And, films like “Straight Outta Compton” reinforce and reverberate that more monetary opportunities and social programs must be present in combating violence. This morning, Mike Brown’s family called for peace as they put the slain teen to rest. “All I want is peace while my son is being laid to rest,” said Michael Sr., Mike’s father. “Can you please, please, take a day of silence so we can lay our son to rest? Please. It’s all I ask.” The church is expecting 5,000+ individuals to show up to the service and celebrate the young man’s life. Check out the inside look after the jump.

Being probably the only 38-year-old Palestinian producer in the rap game DJ Khaled found some time to share his view on the Middle East.“I’m all about unity. I’m all about love, and I want my people to be good, I’m sitting here with you right now, me and you have no problem. A little over a month ago, Waka Flocka Flame’s brother, Kayo Redd passed way from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Waka has been a little low-key since the tragedy, but after changing his diet and detoxing for a while, the “No Hands” rapper spoke out. Waka explains to D.C.’s 93.9 radio station that Kayo “had a lot of stress on him,” that no one saw. Kayo is in a better place, and Waka says that he’s “not hurting” any more. Sad.
