President Obama was sworn in today around 12 in a private ceremony. Vice President Joe Biden was already sworn in by Justice Sonia Sotomayor at his home surrounded by his family. President Obama had a small amount of family with him, including First Lady Michelle, and the first daughters. This was only the third time a President has been sworn in on a Sunday since the inauguration date was changed back in 1937. Only Eisenhower and Reagan have been sworn in on a Sunday. The Constitution states that a President must be sworn in on January 20 at 12pm. After his 1821 swear-in, President James Monroe declared that after a Sunday swear-in a Monday celebration should be held. Chief Justice John Roberts swore in President Obama on a Bible that belonged to First Lady Michelle Obama’s grandmother, LaVaughn Delores Robinson, which was held by Michelle. Tomorrow President Obama will be using Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “travel Bible” to take oath on. Watch President Obama take his oath as President for his second term below. Julie A.

President Obama Pushes Restrictions On Assault Weapons And Reveals The Gun-Control Proposal
President Obama has called on Congress for new and tougher restrictions on the assault weapons ban including 10 round limit on magazine clips. Also, he trying to bar the possession and importation of armor-piercing bullets and to require criminal background checks for every single gun sale that’s being made. It’s about time someone is putting their foot down. This is something that the government should have saw coming and fixed way before the gun thing got out of control. Obama shows us his 23 step plan towards anti-gun violence. Starting with 1. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal agencies to make relevant data available to the federal background check system. Then, ending with 23. It’s politics as usual on Shyne’s Twitter! The outspoken rapper…who’s had many a Twitter beef since his time on the social network…chose our President as his latest “target,” though this time it’s for a positive reason. With the crisis Chicago is in from violence, Shyne wants something done and fast! And he feels that the President will actually care that he’ll have a Yeezy-style meltdown (“George Bush doesn’t care about Black people…”) if he doesn’t take action. LOL!
