President Obama To Nominate John Kerry As Secretary Of State
The currently Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, will be stepping down from her position soon and President Obama has announced that he plans on nominating John Kerry to take her place. Senator John Kerry ran for election back in 2004 and lost to President Bush and if he is confirmed by the Senate, he will take a seat on the Obama Administration. The first person that was expected to be nominated, U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice, announced that she decided to withdraw her name from the consideration. Kerry already travels the world attempting to fix frayed relationships between the US and other countries, so Secretary of State won’t be a huge stretch from his current position. Read more below. School Massacre Brings Gun Control Back Up For Debate For Obama
A Teary eyed President Obama mandated that all Americans flags be lowered to half staff in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary Massacre where 27 people were killed 18 of whom were children. The White House is yet unprepared to make a new statement on gun control but, with this incident, discussion about gun control is ballooning. School shootings like the ones at Columbine High School and Virginia Tech, and other mass killings like the batman massacre in Aurora are making people easy prey and causing much pain and terror. Obama Offering Invitations To Inaugural Activities
Team Obama is offering access to inaugural activities in exchange for corporate donations of over $1 Million they also extend the offer to private individuals who contribute $250,000. That’s a major deviation from his policy in 2009 when he refused corporate donations and capped off private donations at $50,000. CRAZY! Two Million People Could Lose Their Unemployment Benefits Just Days After Christmas
If the government doesn’t do something about the looming fiscal cliff, about two million people could lose their unemployment benefits just four days after Christmas. Rhode Island Sen. Jack Reed is pushing to allow for another extension to avoid tax increases and spending cuts in January. Reed has been joined by others as President Obama and Speaker of the House John Boehner continue to disagree with each other in regards to the deficit deal. Not only are 2.1 million facing losing their benefits on December 29th, but another million people could be losing their benefits in about three months if something is not done and soon.
