Auto:(Video) National “Drifting” Day

Romania must be a pretty cool country to live in if your a car fanatic. Every year, they close down the streets right in front of the Parliament Building and have drifting races. To be clear, that would be the same thing if President Obama shut down the roads near the White House and let racers haul a** around D.C. The aerial view of the racing makes it look ever better. Auto (Racing) How Many Millions Does It Take To Host A Formula One Race?

Now I see why formula 1 races are mainly held in other parts of the world outside of the U.S. You gotta have a really strong racing fanbase to explain the money that is spent on bringing a F1 race to your city, and even though there are a few F1 races in the U.S. each year, I would not consider the states a strong fanbase for it. According to leaked documents from a newspaper in Australia, it could cost on average, anywhere between $31-37 Million dollars to host a race. Meaning the city hosting the event is actually paying F1 for the priveledge. So where does F1 come out of pocket?? The documents also show that taxpayers are the ones who are left holding the bill when races come to town. Sounds kind of grimey to me, but like I said, if you have a rabid fanbase for anything in general, usually it wont cause much of an uproar. Hit the link after the jump to see more.

Auto: Danica Patrick Switching Teams For 2013

For all the racing fans out there, it is being reported today that Danica Patrick will be racing for Turner sport for the 2013 season of the Nationwide series. Could be a good move for her because of the success Turner racing had last year which shows they have good people working on those cars. For obvious publicity reasons, quite a few teams were hoping Patrick would drive for them this year. But at this point Danica is much more than a publicity stunt and is a proven driver who has earned the respect throughout NASCAR. Hit the link after the jump for more. IamJOE357

Auto: (Racing) Earnhardt Jr. Named Most Popular Driver Again!!

Earnhardt Jr may not of won the Sprint cup championship this year, but being popular and getting lots and lots of endorsements can definitely ease the pain. For the 10th, ( Yes, I said 10th ) straight year, he was voted NASCAR most popular driver. Even though the title “most popular” doesn’t do much to help with the actual racing side of it, it still means a lot because it is voted by the actual fans who love these drivers. Auto Talk: Honda to rely on racing efforts to woo back enthusiasts?

A scan of recent Honda headlines shows a corporate entity that you’d think few people, and even fewer CEOs, would complain about: in spite of the odd recall, Honda sales are up, it tops an ALG survey on perceived quality, has excellent relations with suppliers, was granted the right to alter its struggling IndyCar engine and then powered the car that won the Indy 500, and its intergalactically popular CR-V beat the new Mazda CX-5 in a Consumer Reports test. And it is the only major automaker to never record an annual loss. Ever. Funk Flex
