I awakened this morning to my phone – like others, I must troll the Internet before getting out of bed – and I came across Amanda Knox. Apparently, this name isn’t new to the news, but it was my first time hearing of it, so I did a little digging. In 2007, Amanada Knox, 26 went to Florence, Italy to study the language. Knox, along with her boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito was arrested on the stabbing murder of her than roommate, Meredith Kercher. In 2009, Knox was indicted on the charges and sent to prison for 26 years, and only did four of them prior to her conviction being overturned. Fast forward to today, she’s in America, Italy has retried the case and found her guilty, AGAIN – this time 28 1/2 years. The convicted killer stopped by Good Morning America to announce that, “willingly,” she doesn’t plan on going back to the country. So, here she is, in America using extradition laws to stay out of prison. Knox’s attorney, Ted Simon claims that it’s too early to talk about extradition since there is still an appeals process to go through, which will probably last another year. Nah, she has to go!
