TMZ caught a lot of heat last weekend, after they’d reported that Lil Wayne had been read his last rites while in the hospital…aka, he was about to die. Though they had most of their information right, this was apparently far from the truth and even if it wasn’t at the time, it begs questions about integrity in journalism and what rites the family has (like keeping that info to themselves until it’s final.) In the end, it only makes TMZ look bad, as we now know Weezy is far from the grave and has been released and is feeling good. (Thank goodness!) While appearing on MTV Rapfix yesterday to promote his new song “Celebrate,” Mack Maine touched on the topic of Wayne’s health and shared Wayne’s reaction when he heard TMZ was posting such crazy things. (Video) Too $hort’s A Little Confused About His Charges
Earlier this morning, news broke that legendary rapper Too $hort was arrested and charged with both a DUI and felony drug possession. Paparazzi were right there upon his release this afternoon, though, and he seemed a bit confused about the charges. The booking sheet he was given only listed the drug charge, when he thought it was also a DUI. However, this doesn’t mean he only got one. TMZ explains that cops tend to book people on the highest charge, and then leave the remaining charges to the D.A.’s office, however it decides to prosecute. The people in charge of All Star festivities this year made an odd choice in music selection. When you think of a basketball game with the best of the best in the league, you would think amped up, fun music…no? I don’t know about y’all, but some R&B is most certainly not on the top of my list to get me pumped into playing or watching a game. LOL! Apparently tapped performers Alicia Keys and Ne-Yo didn’t seem to think so either, as they both were rather off the ball during their respective performances. Both also got ripped to shreds on Twitter (as is now customary with not-so-great live performances), but Alicia decided to take the mum’s the word approach. Ne-Yo…not so much. Chris Brown and Frank Ocean are obviously not on the best of terms after their parking lot scuffle weeks back. So you can imagine there was a bit of tension when both guys were up for the same award last night for Best Urban Contemporary Album with only one other guy in the category (Miguel)…and Frank beat out both of them. He ended up with a standing ovation from most of the room, though there were a few people who opted not to get out of their seat. Breezy being one of them, LOL! Watch his reaction below.
