Charles Hamilton Is BACK With A Record Deal & A Rita Ora-Assisted Single

Charles Hamilton seemed like he had quite the promising career in 2008 and 2009, with a smash single “Brooklyn Girls,” a spot on the XXL Freshman cover and more. Unfortunately, drama and erratic behavior eventually overshadowed the music, and Charles faded into anonymity and we didn’t really hear from him again…until now! Complex reports that the Harlem rapper has signed a deal with Republic Records, and is prepping a Rita Ora-assisted single that will debut on the season finale of the hit show Empire next month. Even sooner than that, though, Charles will be performing new music at The Sayers Club in L.A. tonight! (As for the major Rita Ora assist, he’s being managed by the same company that represents both Rita and Iggy Azalea, Turn First.) “Charles is back and the excitement for his return is immeasurable,” said Monte Lipman, co-founder and chief executive of Republic Records. “The enthusiasm in the marketplace is overwhelming and we are thrilled to participate in the evolution of his career.” Charles Hamilton back?

Jay 305 Signs To Interscope Records

Congrats are in order for Jay 305, who has just inked a record deal with Interscope Records. The West Coast rapper started building a buzz last year thanks to his affiliation with Dom Kennedy’s Other People’s Money label, and caught the attention of execs like Interscope exec Joie Manda, who I noticed tweeted about Jay last week. “He’s got a different perspective,” Interscope publicist Ray Alba said in a statement. “He’s older and wiser than a lot of young cats and been through some sh*t. His perspective and his story is going to be what’s refreshing in West Coast hip-hop.” The west is on fire right now, and hopefully Jay will only add more fuel to it. Congrats again! (Although per our previous Twitter convo, I still think your rap name sounds like an AIM screenname, LOL!)

Mac Miller Inks Record Deal With Warner Worth A Reported $10 Million

Mac Miller came in the game independently on Rostrum Records, and had some major success with them before parting ways with the label at the top of this year. He has now inked a major label deal with Warner Bros. Records for both himself and his own independent label, REMember Music, and according to reports, it’s worth a whopping $10 million! Congrats, Mac! “Warner is the most independent thinking company I met with,” Mac said in a statement. “It is a partnership and now I can focus on building my label REMember through music and let them handle everything I don’t like doing. Nothing will change in how I do things. They have Prince.”

DeJ Loaf Reportedly Signs With Columbia Records

According to new reports, the success of her hit single “Try Me” has brought Detroit rapper/singer DeJ Loaf a record deal with Columbia Records. The track will go for radio adds officially on October 28, and Columbia has been listed as the label. No details of the deal are available as of yet, but we’ll keep you updated. (Hopefully it’s not a sh*tty 360 situation!) Congrats, DeJ!
