YG’s My Krazy Life tour recently rolled through Houston, so while in town, he stopped by 93.7 The Beat to chop it up on air with his hometown homegirl, Devi Dev. During the interview, the West coast rapper spoke on turning the Pu$haz Ink imprint he started with DJ Mustard and Ty Dolla $ign into an official label, as well as his album inspiration and more. Kelly Rowland Parts Ways With Universal Republic

After two albums with the label, Kelly Rowland has parted ways with Universal Republic, and is beginning work on her fifth solo project. “It’s been wonderful so far, a fresh new spin on everything, with writers, producers, just being inspired, just creativity,” the newly-engaged Kelly said of the project in a recent interview. “I feel like right now, I just needed something new and I’ve earned the right to make my own choices and make my own decisions,” Kelly added about the split from the label. Though she doesn’t know exactly what her next move will be, she is happy to be in the studio on her own, “recording, having fun, and being creatively free.” Wonder where she’ll end up next!


Wow! 50 Cent Leaves Shady/Interscope Records!

50 Cent had his introduction to the game through Eminem’s Shady Records, a division of Interscope Records. After over a decade with the House of Shady, though, he has decided to part ways. It doesn’t come as a total surprise, as over the years, he’s had tension with both Interscope over the promotion and situation with his albums, and with Em’s big homie Dr. Dre because of SMS Audio vs. Beats By Dre. With the departure, he’s inked a new deal, and his new album Animal Ambition will be released through Caroline/Capitol/UMG on June 3rd. Check out a statement from both Fif and Eminem below. Wow, Mac Miller Officially Leaves Rostrum Records!

Mac Miller came into the game on Rostrum Records, the independent label from his hometown of Pittsburgh, PA that he shared with fellow Pittsburgh star, Wiz Khalifa. However, after 4 years together, Mac has decided not to renew his now-expired contract. It’s still nothing but love, though! “Rostrum is my family. That is forever,” Miller said in a statement to MTV. “No matter what, we will always work together. We moved mountains and I can only see them continuing that tradition. I am grateful for everything I learned and am always here for whatever.” After selling 5.4 million singles, more than 750k albums and scoring a successful reality show on MTV 2 while with the label, you can do nothing but respect that Mac wants to move on to even bigger heights! (Photos) The-Dream Announces His Departure From Def Jam; Breaks Down All Of His Past Releases

In a series of photos posted to Instagram just a little while ago, singer/songwriter The-Dream announced his departure from his long-time recording home, Def Jam. Though no explanation was provided as to the reason behind the split, it seems as though it’s amicable, as Mr. Nash was sure to add he’d “miss this logo,” and proceeded to break down each release he’d put out through the label, while promising bigger things are on the horizon. (Video) Tone Trump Discusses His Status On Jeezy’s CTE Label

At the end of 2012, Jeezy’s CTE imprint signed a new distribution deal, which ultimately led to the Atlanta rapper “cleaning slate” at the label…aka, dropping a majority of the artists. Both Freddie Gibbs and Scrilla announced their departure, while YG revealed his new deal, but we never really heard anything from Tone Trump.
