NFL: Maurice Jones-Drew Releases Statement Saying It’s Time To Retire From The NFL

Maurice Jones-Drew announced his retirement from the NFL on Thursday by posting a message on Twitter saying that “all good things come to an end.” In his note on the matter, Jones-Drew called his 9-year playing career an “amazing” time and said he is looking forward to the next chapter of his life. Jones-Drew was a powerhouse type running back just a few seasons ago, but injuries, contract disputes and a lackluster season with the Oakland Raiders last year slowed down his momentum. He never looked right in the black & silver of the Raiders and he likely wasn’t going to be much of a factor moving forward anyway.

(Photos)NFL: Bills QB Kyle Orton Tells Media He Will Be Right Back, Never Returns, Then Retires

Kyle Orton retired officially from the NFL this morning, but did it in a very strange way. After the Bills returned to Buffalo last night from defeating the Patriots in a meaningless game, media and teammates were in the locker room when Orton said he would be right back. Well he never returned and suddenly his locker was empty leaving people wondering what was going on. Then this morning he made the announcement. This is the second time he kinda ran away from a team, as he did it to the Dallas Cowboys earlier this year and wound up getting released, which was exactly what he wanted. Check the pics to see what the media saw in the locker room last night. Orton should be happy as he wants to spend more time with family and retires being a respectable quarterback.

NFL: Former NFL Star Eddie George Writing One Man Hip Hop Show About His Life

This is a pretty dope idea, just not sure about the acting skills of Eddie George. The former Heisman trophy winner and all pro running back in the NFL was inspired by actor/comedian John Leguizamo to write and create his own one man play. Leguizamo had something similar on Broadway not too long ago. George retired in 2004 and says he has been writing the play for a couple years now. Hit the jump.
