NFL: Mike Ditka’s No. 89 Bears Jersey Retired

What motivation to win the game: Mike Ditka!  Last night during Monday Night Football as the Bears took on the Cowboys, Ditka was honored by getting his Bears jersey retired.  Ditka is an icon.  I lived in Chicago for years & everyone loves Da Coach.

NFL: Rolando McClain Says He Was “Feeling Like Aaron Hernandez … Just Wanted To Kill Somebody”

Well damn.  I guess it’s a good thing Rolando McClain retired so early at the age of 23.  His anger was so bad that he wanted to kill someone.  Not everyone is built for that type of pressure & at least he was smart enough to leave before something terrible happened.  Details after the jump…

NFL: Retired QB Wants To Return To Help The Browns

Uhhhh, thanks but no thanks?!  I’m not a Browns fan, but if I was I wouldn’t be looking in this guy’s direction.  Check out which retired QB is looking to make a return & thinks he could help the Browns.

(Video) NBA: Nets Retire Jason Kidd’s #5 Jersey

Besides maybe Dr. J, Jason Kidd is the most well know NBA player to ever be associated with the Nets franchise. Through all their years, whether they were playing in Long Island, New Jersey and now Brooklyn, the Nets had some good players at times, but rarely any GREAT players. Jason Kidd came to the Nets in 2001 when they traded away Stephon Marbury to get him. He instantly gave credibility to a franchise that was not being taken serious. His first full season there, the team won 26 games more than the season before, and it was definitely not a coincidence. Kidd always had the ability to make other players around him better. He was the ultimate leader on the court. In his 6 1/2 years with the Nets as a player, he averaged just under 15ppg, 9 assists, 7 rebounds and was a 5 time all-star. The team also made 2 trips to the NBA finals during his time and pumped life back into a franchise that was never looked at as a contender. Now, usually a team will not retire the jersey of someone who only played 6 seasons with a team, but you have to think him being the coach now was also involved in the decision. Not too mention he set numerous franchise records in just those 6 short seasons. Congrats coach Kidd, it is well deserved. Hit the jump.

MLB: Report, Andy Pettitte Will Announce Retirement From Yankees Today

Many media outlets are reporting that Andy Pettitte will announce his retirement from baseball today for the second time. He retired back in 2010, but made his return to the sport and to the Yankees this season. The Yankees are currently chasing a playoff spot, but time is their enemy as they are slowing fading as the season draws to a close. If the Yanks do not make the playoffs then Pettitte would have 2 starts left in his career. A three-time All-Star with 255 career wins, Pettitte won five World Series with the Yankees and appeared in the Fall Classic in 2005 with the Astros. He is the all-time leader in postseason victories with 19. Even in his 18th season, Pettitte has still looked good at times, however I would agree it is time to leave the game behind. An announcement is expected today at some point.

(Photos) NFL: Well Deserved, Eagles Retire Donovan McNabb’s #5 Jersey

Some people wondered how the crowd would treat Donovan McNabb in his return to Philly, but they did the right thing. The crowd cheered loudly as their former quarterback was introduced on the night the team retired his #5 jersey. Donovan had an up and down relationship with Eagles fans, who are notorious for not showing love. In the end though, McNabb owns basically all the Eagles passing records, took the team to 5 NFC championship games, a Super Bowl and overall was a winner the entire time he was with the team.
