Sacha Baron Cohen Drops Out Of Freddie Mercury Biopic

Despite the fact he’s a dead ringer for the late Queen frontman Freddie Mercury, actor Sacha Baron Cohen has decided drop out of the upcoming biopic on the singer. The issue is apparently over how Mercury would be depicted. Cohen was looking to show a darker, grittier portrayal, while the film’s directors and Mercury’s former bandmmates wanted a more family-friendly portrait of Queen in their prime. Aka, leaving out his drug use and death from AIDS. However, the show must go on, and producers are said to be reaching out to find another actor to play the singer. Check out the side-by-side comparisons of Sacha and Freddie in the gallery, though. Would have been really dope, right?

Sacha Baron Cohen Was Forced To Drop Django Role?!

If you haven’t seen the highly controversial Django: Unchained yet, I suggest you do. Everybody that I know that’s seen it has recommended it and said that the movie was good. I never doubt Tarantino, he’s a film mastermind, and the cast is highly celebrated as well, but some big name stars had to drop out of the movie due to some scheduling conflicts. Take Sacha Baron Cohen who had to drop the movie for Les Miserables or even Joseph Gordon Levitt who also had to drop the film. Other stars who nixed the project include Kurt Russell, Kevin Costner, Jonah Hill and more. Hit the jump for more. PaulDaPro
