Philando Castile’s Former High School Raises Money For A Scholarship In Honor Of Him

It’s been over a month since Philando Castile passed away. His former high school, St. Paul Central High School, has now started a scholarship in his name. The scholarship will cater to underprivileged students who are looking to have a career in education or child development.


Troy Ave Sets Up Scholarship Fund At The High School He & Banga Attended

Despite being behind bars and fighting multiple charges, Troy Ave has set up an an athletic scholarship at the high school that he attended along with his late friend and bodyguard, Ronald “Banga” McPhatter. The New Utrecht High School scholarship will provide $2,000 a year to an exceptional individual for five years, and according to Ave’s lawyer, the first student will be presented with a scholarship in McPhatter’s name today.

With the help of the Steve Harvey Show, MC Lyte made one young man’s dream of attending a four year University a reality. Thanks to MC Lyte and her Hip Hop Sisters Foundation #EducateOurMen initiative, 19 year-old Cortney Rhodes will attend Dillard University in New Orleans on a $50,000 scholarship. Dillard is one of the most respected HBCU’s in the country, where MC Lyte also serves on the Board of Trustees. Check out the clip below.

Mark Zuckerberg Donates $5 Million To Undocumented Students Scholarship

Facebook CEO and co-founder Mark Zuckerberg along with his wife Priscilla have donated 5 million dollars toward scholarships for undocumented students in the Bay Area. Zuckerberg announced via Facebook that he would be donating through TheDream.US, founded by former Facebook board member Donald Graham. The scholarship will benefit students in the Bay Area. Mick Jagger Launches Fashion Scholarship In Honor Of L’Wren Scott

It hasn’t been a full year since the tragic suicide of L’Wren Scott, however the students of Central Saint Martins in London will forever remember the fashion model in a happier state. Thanks to longtime beau Mick Jagger (who was obviously torn up about Scott’s death), three lucky incoming students will get a full ride for the duration of CSM’s two-year MA fashion program.
