Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again” Might Break A Billboard Record Next Week

In the fall of 2002, Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” became the longest-running rap single at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, topping the charts for a whopping 12 consecutive weeks. In the spring of 2009, the Black Eyed Peas tied that record with “Boom Boom Pow.” Now 6 years later, Wiz Khalifa has tied that record as well, thanks to his Charlie Puth-assisted single, “See You Again,” hitting number one once again this week. Should Wiz make it just one more week at the top, he will officially break out of the three-way tie, and hold the record by himself. However – there’s some trouble brewing! Billboard reports that newcomer OMI‘s breakout hit “Cheerleader” is trailing VERY closely behind “See You Again,” and has the potential to take the lead next week. Let’s see what happens!

Congrats! Wiz Khalifa Lands #1 Spot On Billboard For “See You Again” Track

Anyone who left the movie theater after seeing Furious 7 with dry eyes is clearly heartless because watching Paul Walker on the big screen for the last time is more than heart-wrenching. To make it even more emotional, Wiz Khalifa’s sad tune “See You Again” pulled the entire movie together, making it relatable for anyone who ever lost a loved one. Aside from helping the movie gain the #1 spot in the box office, Wiz kicked Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson out of the #1 position for “Uptown Funk” on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and straight pulled the robbery. Congrats, Wiz! “See You Again” and the entire Furious 7 album can be purchased via iTunes here if you haven’t heard it yet. Disclaimer: Make sure you have a box of tissues next to you because this song will do it to you.
