Drake goes back to back after coming in last year as Spotify’s most streamed artist, and now doubles down for the second year in a row.
The Weeknd is killing it….he just set a new record for Spotify with his new album Starboy.
Soundcloud is currently the streaming service of choice for most artists, as it allows their music to get out to the masses without anyone having to pay a subscription fee. Though they recently launched a paid service earlier this year, it remains separate from the free streaming, and the two have co-existed rather peacefully. That may change with talks of a new deal, however.
Spotify has released their list of the top 10 most streamed songs in the WORLD for Summer 16, and it’s only right that none other than Mr. Summer Sixteen himself topped the chart! And not only did Drake top it, but he appears twice in it – as does his boo thang, Rihanna. “One Dance,” which also become Drake’s first-ever number one solo single, is at number 1, while his collab with Rihanna, “Too Good,” is at number 6. Rih also appears at number 2 with her Calvin Harris collab, “This Is What You Came For.” Check out the full list below. Shout to my fave Ty Dolla $ign at number 8!
Oh the streaming wars. The triple threat match that’s been going on between Spotify, Tidal, and Apple Music continues as the originator hires a bigger name celeb to go up against the other big wigs that have been offering crushing blows to the company’s services.
