Today would have been Trayvon Martin’s 19th birthday. Mere weeks after turning 18, Martin was gunned down by nationally disliked person, George Zimmerman. The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, is a nonprofit organization, and they’ve taken the facts of the Trayvon Martin case, actual audio, along with witness testimony to create an ad campaign, that will open more minds about abolishing the ‘Stand Your Ground’ law. “‘Stand Your Ground’ laws have essentially legalized murder. Seems like a majority of America is supporting the stand your ground law that has come under review by many Americans after the decision in the Trayvon Martin case. A poll was held this week for registered American voters and a majority of white male voters are supporting the law while black males are against it. Women are divided on the issue. The battle to change the law will be a difficult one simply because a majority of voters are supporting the law. Check out the video after the jump.

The Stand Your Ground laws are still controversial, and there have been petitions to have them repealed. This celebrity is going a step further by making the following statement at a performance in Quebec: “I’ve decided today that until the ‘Stand Your Ground’ law is abolished in Florida, I will never perform there again! Wherever I find that law exists I will not perform in that state or that part of the world.” That could prove to be tough because over 22 states have Stand Your Ground laws. “Stand Your Ground” – NO – George Zimmerman Will Be Claiming Self Defense At Trial
Mark O’Mara, George Zimmerman’s attorney informed the judge today that the “Stand Your Ground” hearing will not be necessary. No separate hearing will take place and come June of this year, Zimmerman’s defense will be self-defense. O’Mara also wanted the medical records of the female witness that Trayvon Martin was on the phone with during the time of the shooting. The female claims that the reason she didn’t show up to the funeral of Martin was because she was in the hospital. Bubbles burst, because the girl lied – she never was in the hospital.
