Tropical Storm Lee Threatens Southern States

Tropical Storm Lee is threatening the southern states as it picks up power and speed in the Gulf of Mexico. Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama could see 10 inches to 15 inches of rain by Sunday and may not be ready for it. Tropical Storm Lee is currently bringing at least 20 inches of rain to the Gulf with speeds of 65mph. Read more about Lee and when it’s going to touch down in the states after the jump. @Julie1205

Mayor Bloomberg Announces Mandatory Evacuations!

Mayor Mike Bloomberg has announced the evacuations of hospitals, low areas, Zone A and the Rockaways  by 5pm on Saturday in preparation for Hurricane Irene. President Obama Warns People To Prepare For Hurricane Irene Now

President Obama spoke this morning about Hurricane Irene, which will begin to affect the East Coast on Saturday. The President, who will be cutting his Martha’s Vineyard vacation short to head back to DC to prepare, is urging people in Irene’s way to get ready now! Gov. Chris Christie Announces Parkway And NJ Transit Shut Down

Governor Cuomo and Mayor Bloomberg have announced that the MTA will be suspended on Saturday at noon, now NJ Governor Chris Christie has announced that NJ Transit will be suspended at noon on Saturday as well. The governor has also announced that the NJ Parkway will be closed starting today at 8pm after certain exits. Find out which exits will be closed after the jump. @Julie1205
